The Speech-Language-Hearing Association of Virginia (SHAV) is an independent non-profit professional association representing speech-language pathologists and audiologists in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Formed in 1957, SHAV is the only recognized professional organization in Virginia representing our members so they can better serve the needs of people with speech, language, hearing and other communicative impairments in Virginia. SHAV is governed by an elected board of volunteer officers operating under by-laws of the association. SHAV contracts with a management firm and lobby team who work on behalf of the association and citizens of Virginia. SHAV's many committees and task forces provide opportunities for members to interact, learn and develop new skills.

Advocacy Day - December 17

With SHAV’s support, new legislation (HB424) was introduced that supports a change in the licensure for audiologists that will include hearing aid dispensing under our scope of practice. The bill will be back on the table soon and it’s imperative that we have your support behind SHAV as we move toward this goal. For more information, click here.
